SQL database specialist (Varennes, QC)

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the development team leader, the incumbent will be in charge of analyzing the current situation, and defining and implementing the product’s future database. Maestro* is a corporate management system supported by a complex database. In its product modernization project, Maestro wishes to modernize this database and its data structure to allow its customers to make the most of several reports and of business intelligence (BI) tools.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the current architecture of the product’s database and voice recommendations on short-term improvements;
  • Define the data structure and architecture of the product’s future database;
  • Establish the plan for the modernization of the product’s database;
  • Find solutions to solve data management issues and make sure to optimize the database;
  • Define the database’s management rules, reporting and optimization;
  • Recommend and implement reporting and BI tools what will be used with the database;
  • Ensure the accessibility and integrity of the product and its database;
  • Ensure methods and standards are respected while protecting the data and its processing;
  • Address and solve issues related to the database;
  • Plan and execute maintenance plans for the database, such as patching, defragmentation, etc.;
  • Support the development team;
  • Participate in the projects’ architecture.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant field or any equivalent work experience;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in database support;
  • Knowledge of Pervasive and SQL databases;
  • Be team-oriented, have analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Show autonomy, initiative and leadership skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good organization skills.
